Understanding Available Backups

Backuply stores backups based on the retention policy configured for your hosting account. And we at Host4geeks offer Free & Automated Weekly Backups with 4 Retention Points.

Each available backup will display:

• Backup date
• Backup type
• Restore options

Before restoring any data, identify the backup date that contains the version of the files you wish to recover.

Full Account Restore

A Full Restore allows you to restore all available account data from a selected backup.

This is useful when:

• Your website has become corrupted

• Multiple files have been deleted

• A major update has broken the website

• You want to revert the account to a previous state

To perform a Full Restore:

• Open Backuply from cPanel

• Navigate to: Restore & Download → Full Backups

• Select the backup date you wish to restore

• Click the Restore icon

The restoration process will begin automatically.

Important:

A Full Restore may overwrite existing account data. We recommend ensuring that any important recent changes are backed up before proceeding.

Restoring Your Home Directory

The Home Directory contains your website files, including:

• Website content

• Images and media files

• Themes and plugins

• Configuration files

If you only need to restore website files, a Home Directory restore is usually the best option.

To restore your Home Directory:

• Open Backuply from cPanel

• Navigate to: Restore & Download → Home Directory

• Select the backup date you wish to restore

• Click the Restore icon

The restoration process will start immediately.

Restoring Specific Files or Folders

If only a few files or folders were deleted or modified, you do not need to restore the entire Home Directory. Backuply allows you to restore only the files or folders you require.

Examples include:

• A deleted image

• A missing plugin folder

• A modified configuration file

• A specific website directory

To restore selected files:

• Open Backuply

• Navigate to: Restore & Download → Home Directory

• Select the desired backup date

• Click on View / Select Files

• Browse and select the files or folders you want to restore

• Click Restore Selection

Only the selected files and folders will be restored.

Common Restore Scenarios

Accidentally Deleted Website Files

Use the Home Directory restore feature to recover the deleted files or folders.

Website Broken After Plugin or Theme Update

Restore the affected plugin, theme, or website files from the most recent working backup.

Website Changes Need To Be Reverted

Use either a Home Directory Restore or Full Restore depending on the extent of the changes.

Large-Scale Website Issues

If multiple files or components are affected, a Full Restore may be the quickest recovery option.

Important Notes

• Restoring data may overwrite existing files.

• Any changes made after the selected backup date may be lost.

• Large restores may take several minutes to complete.

• Do not close the browser immediately after initiating a restore until the request has been submitted successfully.

• Always verify your website after the restore has completed.

Need Assistance?

If you are unsure which backup to restore or encounter any issues during the restore process, our support team will be happy to assist.

When contacting support, please provide:

• Your domain name

• The backup date you wish to restore

• The files or directories you want restored

• Any error messages displayed within Backuply
